Churchill Downs – 7th race – 8-Recruiting Ready (4-1)
Juvenile colt from the first crop of unbeaten Algorithms demolished a maiden field at Pimlico in his debut in late May, opening up quickly in hand and then coasting to the wire while more than 10 lengths clear of his out-classed foes. Quick, athletic, and extremely talented, this Sagamore Farm color bearer should score right back in the Bashford Manor Stakes as a strong straight play and rolling exotic single. He’s listed at 4-1 on the morning line but we’re not expecting to get anything close to that.
Churchill Downs – 9th race – 3-Nawlins Kitty (5-1)
Daughter of Kittens Joy won her debut three weeks ago like a very promising sort, producing a strong late kick to beat maidens going away with something left in the tank. She takes a step up to non-winners of two company and will need to produce a forward move, but that’s what we’re expecting to see from this Bradley-trained sophomore. Drawn nicely inside, she should enjoy a ground-saving trip and have every chance to score right back, and at 5-1 on the morning line she offers good value in the straight pool and in rolling exotic play.
