Churchill Downs – 8th race – Star Quality (3-1)

Produced a forward move between his debut and his second career start and seems ready to graduate in this one-turn mile for maidens.  The son of Quality Road exits a fast, highly-rated seven furlong dash at Keeneland, finishing a steady third while giving the impression that added distance will be of benefit.  Catches a modest group in today’s affair and looks capable of producing the last run.  At 3-1 on the morning line he’s a straight play and rolling exotic single.

Golden Gate Fields – 7th race – 3-Buymeabomd (6-1)

Was given too much to do when fourth (beaten three lengths) in a competitive $40,000 10-furlong turf event at Santa Anita and finished well but too late in his most recent start. Though he’s moving up to the optional $62,500 level today, the Jonathan Wong-trained gelding is good enough to act with these, and is especially fond of the local lawn (three career wins).  Can be a tad pace dependent but if the fractions are at least honest, he could manufacture a winning late bid at a nice price.  At 6-1 on the morning line he’s worth strong consideration in the straight pool and in rolling exotic play.
