OAKLAWN PARK:

FIFTH RACE – California invader Bicameral returns to the maiden ranks after earning a piece of valuable Grade-1 black-type when finishing a distant third in the Del Mar Debutante in early September. Her debut effort in July – a solid runner-up performance that produced a good speed figure – also, if repeated, would beat this field, so we’ll consider her morning line of 2-1 to be something of an overlay in this six runner maiden event for juvenile fillies. Armed with the classic two-sprints-and-a-stretch out angle, the daughter of Constitution adds blinkers, shows two solid works over the track, and picks up aggressive rider R. Santana, Jr. to ensure that she’ll be allowed show her natural early speed. She’s projected to be on the lead or in an ideal pace-stalking position outside and then have every chance from there.

SIXTH RACE – Improving with each outing, In Dreams appears set for another significant forward move in this allowance optional claiming sprint for 2-year-olds. Most recently, the son of Frosted toyed with an expensive maiden claiming field at Churchill Downs while earning a stakes-quality speed figure that was more impressive than the six and one-half furlong margin of victory appears on paper. The Brad Cox-trained colt adds Lasix today, retains “win rider” Florent Geroux, and looks very much like the controlling speed right back. He’ll have to deal with the logical top pick and recent maiden special weight winner Chasing Time from his outside, but we’ll gamble that he’ll be up to the task.
