Race 2

Queen Goddess (4)

Queen Goddess (Outside) and Exalted Joy Worked 4 Furlongs at Del Mar on July 30th, 2021

Queen Goddess looked great on deubt nearly reeling in a foe with multiple outs when dismissed at 25-1.  Back with this smooth move 2 weeks later and then in, McCarthy knows to strike when the iron is hot.  This filly was much the best of her mate here, cruising along the outside and easily overtaking that overmatched buddy who was really being encouraged to try and keep pace.  I think she moves forward from the debut, not back and I wouldn’t mind to see her on dirt sometime in the future either.  The pick for me.

Race 6

Gold Rush Candy (7)

Midnight Mammoth (Outside) and Gold Rush Candy Worked 5 Furlongs at Del Mar on July 29th, 2021

Typical Baffert firster but make it Cal Bred.  Sharp out of the gate, quick into stride, high cruising speed and finishes strong.

Arthur Spooner (3)

B’esame Me Mucho (Outside) and Arthur Spooner Worked 5 Furlongs at Del Mar on July 19th, 2021

Arthur Spooner is a must play for me as well with my exotics.  He has really progressed well and I was keen on this gate drill two works back.  He was sharp and professional out of the gate and he showed a lot of competitive drive to make sure he was continuously in front.  Plus the finish and gallop out looked good. Too bad he has to run into a Baffert firster but he deserves to take some action.

Race 7

Escape Route (Outside) and Hollywood’s Best Worked 5 Furlongs 1:00.40 at Del Mar on July 31st, 2021

Thanks Mark Glatt for working your two together!  For the majority of this work they are pretty evenly mathced but in the final stages we see Escape Route drawing off while both being ridden for a strong end.  I think both are playable but I give the edge (an a touch more $$) to Escape Route.
