Ellis Park – 5th race – 2-Colonel Swinson (8-1)

Featured in our East Coast “Black Book” a couple of weeks ago, this juvenile son of Colonel John should move forward considerably in his second career start and is worth a gamble despite being raised from maiden $50,000 claiming to maiden special weight company.  In his debut, the Charles Dickey-trained colt was outrun for a half, took hold inside into the lane and finished with good energy to be third before galloping out strongly.  Will greatly appreciate today’s mile trip and at 8-1 on the morning line offers value both in the straight pool and in rolling exotic play.

Belmont Park – 4th race – 5-Miss Freeze (5-1)

Daughter of Frost Giant makes her debut in a maiden special weight state-bred sprint and looks like a very live item in an unclassified field.  Breezed a quarter of a mile in a blistering 20 4/5 seconds at the OBS April sale and then brought $150,000 at auction, and appears cranked up and ready to go following a healthy, steady series of workouts at Belmont Park for trainer David Cannizzo.  Listed at 5-1 on the morning line and represents excellent wagering value at or near that price.
